We’re establishing a new domain of generalized aerial robotics — aerial intelligence — and developing the technical and commercial foundations it needs to grow sustainably.
Every so often, a new technology, platform, or capability comes along that changes the game. Innovation of this kind doesn’t typically answer a market’s demand; they create markets that didn’t exist before and ignite our wildest imaginations.
Revolutionary breakthroughs tend to happen when exploratory research and development is brought to scale and its incentives are aligned with a driving force. If history has taught us anything, it’s that pairing technology with the right incentives can accelerate innovation and drive the creation of entirely new industries.
We believe aerial robotics is approaching such a turning point. Our goal is to establish a new domain of generalized aerial robotics – “aerial intelligence” – and develop the technical and commercial foundations necessary for it to grow sustainably. We envision aerial intelligence as a new class of aerial systems that can understand the world, reason and act safely across complex missions, adapt to new environments and applications, and fuel a continuous cycle of research and real-world use.
Being the scientists and engineers that we are, a vision like this wouldn’t be complete without the promise of an experiment: can we not just do this once, but again and again. Can we showcase a model for accelerating the state of the art in research and development by aligning the right incentives to enable the creation of a new venue for scalable technology innovation.
As such, our aim becomes twofold, to build aerial intelligence, and, through it, demonstrate a model for repeatedly bringing breakthrough technologies from research into the world.
We’d be naive to say we know everything. But we can say with conviction that this is a future worth building, because after all, the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do. ;)

Our overarching goal is to establish a new domain of generalized aerial robotics—“aerial intelligence”—and develop the technical and commercial foundations necessary for it to grow sustainably.
Develop an aerial system capable of understanding its environment, reasoning about complex objectives, adapting to unfamiliar situations, and safely completing long-horizon tasks.
Apply this technology to unique, high-value, and previously impractical use cases in which greater autonomy creates a meaningful real-world advantage.
Define, introduce, and standardize “aerial intelligence” as the domain of generalized aerial robotics, encompassing the perception, reasoning, planning, control, and hardware capabilities required for broadly capable autonomous flight.
Build a scalable feedback loop in which research advances enable valuable products and applications, while commercial deployment generates the resources, data, and operational insights needed to drive further research.
